Description

ArthroButton Fixed Loop for ACL Reconstruction

The ArthroButton fixed loop device is an implant used for femoral fixation of soft-tissue grafts (like hamstring tendons) during ACL reconstruction surgery.

🔹 Design & Features:

Button (usually titanium or stainless steel): Sits on the outer femoral cortex for strong cortical fixation.

Fixed loop (high-strength suture loop): Pre-set length, used to secure the graft inside the femoral tunnel.

Low-profile design: Minimizes soft-tissue irritation.

Radiopaque markers (in some designs): Allow visualization under X-ray.

🔹 Working Principle:

1. A femoral tunnel is drilled.

2. The graft with the ArthroButton is passed through the tunnel.

3. The button exits the lateral femoral cortex and “flips” or locks on the cortical surface.

4. The fixed loop suspends the graft inside the femoral tunnel, providing strong and stable fixation.

🔹 Advantages:

High tensile strength and stability.

Reliable cortical fixation.

Simple insertion technique.

Smaller incision needed compared to interference screws.

🔹 Limitations:

Fixed loop length cannot be adjusted (requires accurate tunnel planning).

Risk of graft-tunnel mismatch if loop length selection is not correct.
