Description
ArthroButton Fixed Loop for ACL Reconstruction
n
nThe ArthroButton fixed loop device is an implant used for femoral fixation of soft-tissue grafts (like hamstring tendons) during ACL reconstruction surgery.
n
n🔹 Design & Features:
n
nButton (usually titanium or stainless steel): Sits on the outer femoral cortex for strong cortical fixation.
n
nFixed loop (high-strength suture loop): Pre-set length, used to secure the graft inside the femoral tunnel.
n
nLow-profile design: Minimizes soft-tissue irritation.
n
nRadiopaque markers (in some designs): Allow visualization under X-ray.
n
n🔹 Working Principle:
n
n1. A femoral tunnel is drilled.
n
n2. The graft with the ArthroButton is passed through the tunnel.
n
n3. The button exits the lateral femoral cortex and “flips” or locks on the cortical surface.
n
n4. The fixed loop suspends the graft inside the femoral tunnel, providing strong and stable fixation.
n
n
n
n🔹 Advantages:
n
nHigh tensile strength and stability.
n
nReliable cortical fixation.
n
nSimple insertion technique.
n
nSmaller incision needed compared to interference screws.
n
n🔹 Limitations:
n
nFixed loop length cannot be adjusted (requires accurate tunnel planning).
n
nRisk of graft-tunnel mismatch if loop length selection is not correct.
